Work completed for the United Nations

WHO

Bryan designed e-learning briefing materials to help promote the WHO's work on promoting healthcare systems working. This addressed a perceived lack of understanding of the interconnection of social, economic and political factors affecting healthcare delivery amongst many healthcare professional working in low income countries.

The programme took users through a series of scenarios where they were asked to make decisions related to different aspects of programme delivery. Feedback on decisions included links to further sources of information on that particular topic.

ILO

ILO needed a User Guide and face-to-face training to support the implementation of a new on-line system for managing the reruitment and selection of staff. Bryan designed the Guide and ran the necessary training for several different groups of staff.

Department of Peace Keeping Operations

Bryan has run several workshops for the DPKO's Mission in Liberia (UNMIL), including:

UNHCR

Bryan helped UNHCR redesign their security training for field staff working in high-risk duty stations. He trained experienced Field Security Advisers in facilitation skills so that they could help staff to learn from their own experiences. This workshop was run in Liberia, Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Bryan developed a combined distance learning and performance support package designed to be used as a paper or as an electronic learning system for field staff carrying out environmental assessments of refugee camps. Users would work through a template containing simple instructions and spaces for collecting and analysing data on environmental factors in camps. The distance learning materials mapped exactly onto the template so that users could access learning as and when required.

He also designed a blended workshop/workbook solution to help with the implementation of a new refugee registration system.

WHO, ILO

After the recognition of UNHCR's successful training, Bryan was asked to repeat the security workshops with World Health Organisation and International Labour Organisation staff, delivering workshops and training facilitators in Nigeria, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

OCHA Bryan designed an on-line induction programme for staff working in the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
