The biggest difficulty with designing crosswords is in
constructing the crossword itself. However, you can use specially designed
software packages (such as Crossword
Compiler) that will automatically fit the words you need into a grid.
And do not forget other games approaches to questions.
Looking through any of the dozens of puzzle magazines available in newsagents
will give you ideas about how to structure questions in a more entertaining
way.

Crosswords can be effective in making learning materials
more interesting for a learner. Many people find the challenge of completing
a crossword engaging and a good stimulus to learning, and so they are particularly
useful for knowledge-based learning, where the learner is expected to learn
a lot of factual information.
